Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner was caught up in a terifying stabbing incident when he visited New York last week.
The 36-year-old Danish narrowly escaped the horrific event after he was attacked, along with his friends, on the street of Manhattan, as captured by CCTV footage.
The clip showed a bearded man sprinting in the direction of the gathering before fleeing the scene.
The individual was known to have been holding a knife, which he used in attacking the former striker and is folks, resulting in a facial and ear injury to one of the group members, said to be a 55-year-old ex-Danish football player.
The victim was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, while the culprit, identified as Joshua Zinberg, 25, was arrested the next day and has been charged with attempted murder and assault.
According to New York police, Zinberg was reported by his mother after she saw him on TV news. Reports claim he has a long criminal history and mental health problems.

Bendtner confirms involvement in stabbing incident
Bendtner, when asked whether he was the one in the video, responded to Ekstra Bladett saying,
“Yes, I can confirm that it is me in the video.
“Could it have been me who was attacked? I have no comment about that.
“But I can confirm that it’s me on the video – it’s hard to run away from.”
Bendtner scored 45 goals in 171 appearances during his nine seasons with Arsenal.
Along with Juventus and Wolfsburg, he also played for Birmingham, Nottingham Forest, and Sunderland.
After playing for Tarnby FF in the Danish fourth level for a short time, he announced his retirement in June 2021.
