Former AC Milan defender Ümit Davala has praised Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen for his sportsmanship and character during Galatasaray’s match against Bodrumspor.
During the game, Galatasaray fans displayed a banner in memory of Yiğit Kurt, a 9-year-old supporter who tragically died while travelling to watch the team play Tottenham in the Europa League.

The match was tight until the 54th minute, when Michy Batshuayi scored off a brilliant assist from Dries Mertens to secure a 1-0 victory.
Davala on Osimhen’s gesture
After the goal, Osimhen guided Batshuayi to the banner honouring Yiğit Kurt, a gesture that deeply moved the fans and Galatasaray legend Davala.
“Osimhen directed Batshuayi to the banner of the late Yiğit Kurt when he scored the goal,” Davala said.
”His footballing skills are okay, but his personality and humanity made me very happy. Galatasaray has really acquired a very good character.”
Osimhen, who has been in fine form since his loan move to the club, did not score against Bodrumspor, as Batshuayi saved the day.
After the game, the Belgian striker spoke about his partnership with the Galatasaray loanee, highlighting their unique abilities and pointing out an area where he feels he thrives better than his fellow attacker.
Osimhen will now look to find the back of the net in Galatasaray’s upcoming Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar.
