Former Manchester United youth coach Jonathan Hill has stated that he is interested in becoming the next head coach of the Super Eagles.
Nigeria have been without a permanent head coach since Finidi George left in June, with Augustine Eguavoen stepping in as the interim coach. He led the team to a top finish in the AFCON qualifiers, and they have now secured qualification for the continental championship.
However, Eguavoen’s only blemish during this period was a 2-1 home defeat to Rwanda, even though the defeat did not have any consequence for the Super Eagles, who had already secured the ticket to the FCON tournament in Morocco.

Hill expresses interest in Super Eagles job
Hill has shown interest in the job, according to Sports Boom, saying,
“This is a role I truly fancy because of its demanding nature and the opportunity it brings to push one to do their best,” Hill told Sports Boom.
He added, “It’s a great, untapped talent pool. I enjoy the cultural and sporting experiences, and I know I would do well with them. And the profile it offers, you know. It’s a highly contested role, but with my strong resume, you might wonder why I’m not working at present. It’s a mystery.”
When asked about the possibility of leading Nigeria to World Cup qualification, Hill was positive about the team’s potential:
“You have to applaud the work already being done by Augustine and his crew. Qualification for the World Cup is definitely something that can be achieved as well.”
Hill, who possesses a UEFA A license, has managed the youth teams of Manchester City and Manchester United in the past. He has also worked as an assistant manager at clubs like Fulham, Tromsdalen, Exeter City, and Rotherham.
With the future of Nigerian football in limbo, Hill’s experience and confidence might make him an interesting candidate for the job.
