Arsenal star Bukayo Saka might consider leaving the Emirates if the club fails to compete for major trophies, according to Gunners legend Alan Smith.
Despite his incredible rise as one of the Premier League’s top talents, Saka’s major silverware haul remains limited to Arsenal’s 2020 FA Cup triumph.
The 23-year-old winger has been pivotal for Arsenal, delivering 64 goals and 59 assists in 243 appearances.
While he extended his contract in May 2023, tying him to the club until the summer of 2027, Smith believes Saka’s loyalty hinges on Arsenal’s ability to sustain a title challenge.

Saka’s Future Tied to Arsenal’s Ambitions
Speaking to Mega Dice as perDaily Express, Smith emphasized the importance of Arsenal’s success in keeping Saka at the club.
“It’s hard to say if he’ll stay at Arsenal for a long time as it always depends on whether the club is challenging for honours,” said Smith.
The former Arsenal striker highlighted Saka’s competitive nature and desire for trophies.
“If there’s a dip in the club’s fortune, you want to be winning trophies. I’m sure Saka falls into that category. Players like him, if they feel the team is stagnating, might consider moving on,” he added.
Saka’s World-Class Status
Smith also praised Saka’s consistency and mentality, calling him “world class.” While the term is often subjective, Smith pointed out the winger’s influence for both club and country.
“You can’t overlook what he does week-in, week-out for Arsenal as well as his performances for England. He’s a brilliant player with a great attitude to the game and is very tough to handle when he’s in form,” Smith concluded.
