West Ham’s season has been tough so far, but Monday night’s 2-0 win over Newcastle offered a glimmer of hope under Julen Lopetegui.
It wasn’t a smash-and-grab at St James’ Park either—West Ham looked the better side at times. While fans may not be getting carried away yet, there were positives to take.
However, Arsenal’s visit presents a much tougher challenge. Mikel Arteta’s side are in great form, beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 last weekend and following it up with a 5-1 thrashing of Sporting CP in the Champions League.
Both teams faced off three times last season, with the Hammers winning the first two meetings—a 3-1 home victory in the Carabao Cup, followed by a surprising 2-0 win at the Emirates in the first leg of the Premier League.
The Gunners, however, got their revenge with a dominant 6-0 victory at the Olympic Stadium. They return to the same venue this weekend, aiming to make it back-to-back wins.
West Ham will face Arsenal on Sunday, 30 November 2024, with kick-off at 5:30 pm GMT at the London Stadium.

Lopetegui won’t be on the touchline after receiving his third booking of the season during the game at Newcastle.
Edson Alvarez is back from suspension, but Mohammed Kudus is still banned and will miss his fifth game. Niclas Fullkrug is doubtful as he continues to recover from an Achilles injury that has kept him out since September. West Ham are also hoping Jean-Clair Todibo will be ready to play after picking up a knock on Monday.
For Arsenal, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are unavailable, and Gabriel Magalhaes will need a fitness check after being forced off against Sporting.
