Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is optimistic about his team’s chances of winning their first Premier League title since 2004, as he gives EPL leaders Liverpool a reality check ahead of their game against defending champions Manchester City this weekend.
Everything seems to be going right for the Reds under newly appointed boss Arne Slot, who has guided the 19-time league champions to 17 wins out of 19 games in charge.
As a result, they are through to the Carabao Cup quarterfinals and currently top both the Champions League and Premier League standings.
In the EPL, Liverpool are eight points clear of second-placed City, whom they will host this weekend in their matchday 13 encounter, and lead Arsenal by nine points.

Arteta’s warning to Liverpool
Gunners boss Arteta believes the title race is still open, suggesting it will be very difficult for the league leaders to maintain their current form. He referred to his team’s experience in a previous season where they led the league for most of the campaign but eventually lost out to City.
“We’ve been there and to sustain it for 10 months is extremely difficult,” said Arteta, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“Suddenly when you think you have it, one day it collapses.
“It can be a result, through injuries or other kinds of decisions. And it can happen in any moment. We have to be ready for that.
“But it’s something we can’t control. What we can control is be at our very best.”
When asked if Arsenal can catch Liverpool this season, Arteta replied,
“I really believe in my team, yes.”
The Gunners travel across town to face West Ham in this weekend’s London derby at the Olympic Stadium. They will aim to take all three points as they look to make the most of Liverpool taking on City this weekend.
