Victor Osimhen has insisted that referee Oguzhan Çakır was wrong to overlook a penalty decision during Galatasaray’s disappointing 2-2 draw against Eyüpspor at RAMS Park.
As reported by various Turkish outlets, Sunday evening’s league clash against Arda Turan’s side was overshadowed by several controversial, including a penaly incident involving the Nigerian striker.
Osimhen was brought down in the penalty area in the twenty-first minute of the match, following a tackle from Lucas Claro, but Çakir disregarded their plea despite protests from the Galatasaray players.

The hosts found themselves trailing after a 13th-minute goal from Emre Akbaba, and a penalty would have given them a chance to draw level.
However, they found other ways to respond, as Barış Alper Yılmaz restored parity for the Aslans with a rebound in first-half stoppage time. Roland Sallai then gave Galatasaray the lead in the second half after Gabriel Sara’s cross found Osimhen. His mishit header fell into the path of the Hungarian winger, who slotted the ball into the net.
However, a slip up from the hosts would see Eyüpspor draw back on level terms in the 71st minute, as the game ended in a stalemate.
Osimhen’s speaks after penalty incident
After the game, Osimhen spoke about his penalty incident, insisting that the referee should have pointed to the spot when he was knocked down by Claro’s challenge.
“Of course, it was a penalty,” the Nigerian striker said, as quoted by haber sari kirmizi
Galatasaray leads the rankings with 35 points, six points ahead of Fenerbahçe and Samsunspor, despite dropping two points in the match. However, a victory for the Yellow Navy Blues over Gaziantep F.K. tomorrow would reduce the gap.
