Galatasaray insider Oğuz Altay has shared his opinion on Victor Osimhen’s partnership with Michy Batshuayi, comparing it to the Nigerian’s connection with the injured Mauro Icardi.
Osimhen and Icardi appeared to be building a strong bond, proving to be a formidable force in Okan Buruk’s two-man attack system.
The 25-year-old striker, who joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan, has been impressive since his move, registering nine goals and five assists in 12 games.
However, the bulk of the loanee’s contributions came before Icardi’s injury, with 10 goal involvements in eight games.
The Argentine has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an acute cruciate ligament injury during Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham.

Victor Osimhen’s Icardi connection compared to Batshuayi partnership
While Osimhen has still delivered, contributing to four goals in four games without his preferred partner, Altay noted the clear difference in their collaboration compared to Batshuayi’s, with whom Osimhen has not started many games.
“Osimhen and Icardi playing as center forward and Osimhen and Batshuayi playing as a centre forward are as different as night and day,” the KRT TV commentator said, according to Turkish outlet habersarikirmizi.
Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen failed to score in Galatasaray’s 2-2 draw with Eyupspor, though he provided an assist. Batshuayi also featured off the bench in the same game.
Both strikers will aim to strengthen their partnership as they look to form an attack that is hard for opponents to defend against.
