Another Nigerian has joined Atalanta star Ademola Lookman as one of the players to make it to the final shortlist of the CAF Player of the Year awards.

Super Falcons star Chiamaka Nnadozie has been acknowledged for her outstanding performances, earning a place on the shortlist for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.

Nnadozie, a goalkeeper for Paris FC in France, is among five nominees for the award, alongside Moroccan forward Sanaa Mssoudy, Malawian sisters Temwa and Tabitha Chawinga, and Zambian forward Barbara Banda.

She is also in contention for the Keeper of the Year award, having made the final shortlist in this category as well. Nnadozie will compete with Andile Dlamini, Khadija Er-rmichi, Habiba Sabry, and Fideline Ngoy for the honour.

Ademola Lookman has been on fire for Atalanta

The Paris FC star isn’t the only Nigerian player in the spotlight for the CAF Player of the Year awards.

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been named among the final five nominees in the men’s category after an incredible year for both club and country.

The Atalanta star was involved in 27 goals during the 2023-2024 season, with the majority coming in 2024. He also played a key role for the Super Eagles, scoring three goals and providing one assist as they secured AFCON qualification.

The 2024 CAF Awards will take place on 16 December in Marrakech, Morocco, where both players will hope their performances earn them the prestigious accolades.
