Bukayo Saka had an exceptional night in Arsenal’s 3-0 Champions League win over Monaco, but his first hat-trick for the club was humorously thwarted by teammate Kai Havertz.
Saka opened the scoring in the 34th minute, tapping in Gabriel Jesus’ cross at the far post. His second came in the 78th minute, capitalizing on pressure from Havertz to steal the ball and double Arsenal’s lead.
However, the winger’s chance for a hat-trick was cut short in the 88th minute when his deflected shot was redirected into the net by Havertz.
The German’s quick reaction at the near post denied Saka what could have been a memorable first treble.
Speaking to TNT Sports post-match, Saka joked:
“Yeah, he got in the way of it. But don’t worry, it’s coming, it’s coming.”

Saka’s Stellar Season Continues

The brace took Saka’s season tally to nine goals and 12 assists, doubling his Champions League goal count.
Arsenal’s dominant performance put them on 13 points, all but securing automatic qualification to the knockout stages.
Their next group matches are scheduled for January 22 against Dinamo Zagreb, followed by Girona.

Saka also had glowing words for Myles Lewis-Skelly, who delivered an impressive performance at left-back despite playing out of position.
“I told him before the game that this is his level. He needs to have no doubts and just do what we see in training. I’m amazed by him, and he played a big part in the first goal,” Saka shared.
With the Champions League break in sight, Arsenal will now shift focus to their Premier League clash against Everton this Saturday at the Emirates.
