Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has criticised Mohamed Salah for not being upfront about his contract negotiations with the club.
This comes weeks after the former defender slammed the Egyptian forward for his comments following Liverpool’s win over Southampton. Salah, whose contract expires at the end of the season, had stated that he is closer to leaving the club than staying.
The 32-year-old has arguably been Liverpool’s best player this season, scoring 16 goals and providing 12 assists so far. Carragher has expressed a strong desire to see him remain at Anfield.

Carragher’s criticism of Salah on contract talks
However, the Sky Sports pundit insisted that the former Roma star should be more transparent about the ongoing contract negotiations with the club.
“He’s a world-renowned superstar, and I’m desperate for him to stay, but I’m looking at it from the club’s point of view where we don’t know who’s in the right or wrong,” Carragher said, as per Daily Mail.
“If you want to put something out there that the club haven’t offered you a contract, then tell us what you want, be transparent, and we can then all pick sides.
“Me personally, I think he should stay on the same amount of money and give him a two-year deal. Now, the club might be offering him one year, and he might want three – we don’t know what it is. I’ve tried to get information from the club because I knew I’d be asked about it, but they’re not giving anything away.”
Away from contract talks, Liverpool will host Fulham at Anfield this weekend for their matchday 16 Premier League encounter, where Salah will look to continue his explosive form.
