Manchester City‘s woes continued to worsen after their 2-0 defeat to Juventus in the UEFA Champions League, and Rio Ferdinand has criticised them. The defeat was City‘s seventh in all competitions this season.
City‘s dismal run has reflected in their performances in the Premier League and Europe. They are currently lying in 22nd position in the Champions League standings with two games remaining.

What Ferdinand said on Manchester City’s form

Speaking on TNT Sports via Daily Mail, Ferdinand questioned City‘s mindset and suggested their problems run deeper than tactics.
“One of the telling things from that interview is it feels like there is a bit of a broken mentality in the group.
“From being a team built with players who, if they make mistakes, it was quickly forgotten – that is one of Pep’s things – they make mistakes now and there is a hangover for the next few phases of play and that’s when mistakes happen, you think there will be another one at any point.
“There seems to be a confusion with how to react and what to do. It sounds like they have their fingers on the pulse with what’s going on, they are going to know, but getting humans out on the pitch lacking in confidence… they are not used to it, that is the difficult part.”
That leaves Pep Guardiola‘s side with an uphill task to remain in the competition. The top 24 teams go through, with the top eight getting a direct ticket into the next round.
Manchester City are only a point above the elimination zone. The Cityzens next play a very crucial away match against group leaders Paris Saint-Germain, which is followed by a must-win home game against Club Brugge in January.
