Stanley Nwabali has reacted after being left out of CAF’s final shortlist for the Goalkeeper of the Year award.
CAF recently announced the top three nominees, with Cameroon’s Andre Onana, Ivory Coast’s Yahia Fofana, and South Africa’s Rowen Williams making the shortlist.
Surprisingly, Nigerian goalkeeper Nwabali, who impressed at the 2023 AFCON tournament, was not included.
Despite keeping four clean sheets and making crucial penalty saves against South Africa, Nwabali missed out on the final list. His performance helped Nigeria reach the tournament’s final, but he was overlooked by CAF.
He was also instrumental in helping the Super Eagles secure qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament, which will take place in Morroco. keeping three clean sheets in four appearances during the qualifier round.
