Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr believes Ademola Lookman deserves to win the 2024 CAF Africa Men’s Player of the Year award, given his impressive performances throughout the year.
The Atalanta winger has indeed had a remarkable year, helping the Italian side secure their first European title after scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen.
He ended the 2023-2024 campaign with 17 goals and 11 assists, with the majority of those contributions coming in 2024. This season, he has continued in similar fashion, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists.

Rorh endorses Lookman for CAF POTY
With these performances, Rohr has backed Lookman to be crowned Africa’s best player.
“He has made a lot of progress. His difficult first seasons in England and Germany are now a thing of the past. He has managed to get back up and shine,” the German manager told Foot Africa.
“I followed him a few years ago with the Super Eagles. He went from the shadows to the light. Today, he is a complete player, as effective as an assister as he is as a scorer.”
Meanwhile, the CAF awards ceremony will take place on the 16th of December 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco, and Lookman will hope his impressive performances are enough to earn him the award.
