Super Eagles skipper William Troost-Ekong gave a reflective opinion on the age-long argument between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on who was the better player.
The Nigerian International, who has played both football greats, decided to play neutral, perhaps for a reason that there could be another meeting, this time with Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.

What Troost-Ekong said
”This is difficult to say. I know I will probably play against Ronaldo later this season. I don‘t want to get him mad,” Troost-Ekong joked during an interview with talkSPORT.
While he stayed diplomatic about choosing between the two, Troost-Ekong couldn’t hide his admiration for Messi, calling him ‘unplayable.’ He reflected on the 2018 World Cup clash between Nigeria and Argentina, where Messi’s brilliant opener helped knock the Super Eagles out of the tournament.
“When he scored the opening goal against us, it was like slow motion. You can‘t really do anything—you just have to watch him,”recalled Troost-Ekong. “I was close to cheering him because he was fantastic. He is a different quality. You can see that he‘s reading the game, but when he comes alive, there is not much you can do.”
Meanwhile, Troost-Ekong has been impressive since his move to Al-Kholood in August. The 31-year-old Nigerian has featured for the Saudi Arabian side 16 times this season, scoring two goals.
