Pep Guardiola has admitted to claims of a decline after his Manchester City side suffered defeat against Manchester United, throwing away a one-goal lead two minutes from time.
Sunday’s Manchester Derby loss marked the eighth defeat in 11 games across all competitions for the Premier League defending champions, with their only win during this run coming against Nottingham Forest.
Previous reports had suggested a decline for the Spanish manager, comparing his current struggles to those of José Mourinho, whose tenure at Manchester United ended after a string of poor results. Guardiola’s response sparked a back-and-forth with the three-time Premier League winner, who fired back in savage manner.

Pep Guardiola’s admission

Guardiola, however, has taken responsibility for his team’s poor performances, admitting he has lost his touch.
“I’m the boss, I’m the manager, and I’m not good enough,” the 53-year-old said, as per Sunsports, responding to reporters who questioned the reason for his team’s dip in form.
“I’m not doing well—it’s as simple as that.
“I need to talk to them about the way we have to play and press and build up, and I’m not good enough.
“I’m the manager, and I don’t find the solution. In a big club, when you lose eight in 11, something wrong is happening.”
Manchester City are currently fourth in the league standings, nine points behind leaders Liverpool. They next travel to Villa Park this weekend for their Matchday 17 encounter against Aston Villa, hoping to bounce back to winning ways.
