Sevilla CF head coach Garcia Pimienta has hinted at a potential January departure for Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who joined the Spanish club in the summer transfer window.

The Super Eagles forward has struggled to adapt to life in La Liga, failing to score in nine league appearances so far this season.

Despite his on-field struggles, Pimienta has voiced his admiration for Iheanacho’s professionalism and commitment.

Speaking to Estado Deportivo, the Sevilla boss remarked, “Kelechi trains well, he is very well liked by his teammates, he is even very respected.

For whatever reason, he is not getting the minutes that make you have continuity, perform better, but I think that when you give everything you have, even if things don’t go your way, I can’t say anything to him.

We are here to help him.”

Limited Game Time and Rising Competition

Iheanacho’s limited minutes are largely attributed to stiff competition for places in Sevilla’s attack.

Fellow forward Isaac has been favored in recent matches, leaving the Nigerian international to watch from the sidelines.

While Pimienta continues to support Iheanacho, the lack of playing time has fueled speculation about a move away from the club.

Reports suggest that English Championship side West Bromwich Albion are keen on bringing Iheanacho back to England, where he previously played for Manchester City and Leicester City.

Additionally, Sevilla’s La Liga rivals, Las Palmas, are reportedly considering a loan move for the 27-year-old forward in the January transfer window.

With the winter transfer window fast approaching, Iheanacho’s future at Sevilla appears uncertain.

A move could provide the striker with the consistent playing time he needs to regain his form and confidence.

Whether it’s a return to England or a loan spell in Spain, Iheanacho’s next destination could prove crucial for his career revival as he seeks to make a stronger impact on the pitch.
