Super Eagles defender Ola Aina is optimistic that his club, Nottingham Forest, can shock the world by winning the English Premier League at the end of the season.
The Tricky Trees have emerged as the league’s surprise package this campaign, transitioning from relegation strugglers in the previous two seasons to top-four contenders.
A 2-0 away victory on Saturday against a Brentford side that had not lost at the Gtech Community Stadium this season is the latest highlight of an incredible league campaign for Nuno Espírito Santo’s men.
That win was secured by goals from Aina and Anthony Elanga, leaving Forest in fourth place in the standings after nine wins, four draws, and four losses, amassing 31 points. They sit five points behind Liverpool, who lead the table with two games in hand.

What Aina said

While winning the EPL title might be a herculean task for Forest, Aina, who has endeared himself to the fans, remains optimistic, stating they are focused on taking each game as it comes and aiming for a strong finish to the season.
“You don’t know, but it’s really good work what we’re doing. We are just focusing on ourselves, and taking it game by game,” Aina told the BBC.
“But it is good to dream a little bit. As long as we work hard and just keep our heads and not get too carried away, I’m sure things will be fantastic, come May.”
Leicester City are the most recent team to defy the odds and clinch the title, achieving the feat in the 2015-16 season. It will be fascinating to see if Forest can follow in their footsteps.
