Renowned Turkish football commentator Ali Ece has surprised fans by naming Gabriel Sara as Galatasaray’s most impactful signing of the 2024 summer transfer window, despite the presence of marquee additions like Victor Osimhen.

Galatasaray bolstered their squad significantly, bringing in Osimhen, Hakim Ziyech, Michy Batshuayi, and others, including Sara, who arrived from Norwich City for a club-record fee of €18 million.

The midfielder broke the club’s previous transfer record of €17 million, set by Mario Jardel in the 2000/01 season.

While Osimhen, on loan from Napoli, has dazzled with 10 goals and 3 assists in just 12 league appearances, Ece argues that Sara’s contributions have been equally, if not more, significant.

The midfielder, who has nine goal involvements, has featured in eight more games than Osimhen, showcasing his importance to the team’s overall play.

Speaking on the Vole YouTube channel, via habersarikirmizi.com, Ece said:

Gabriel Sara is Galatasaray’s most successful transfer this season. Osimhen, of course, has superstar status, but the most successful transfer is Sara. It was a risky move by Turkish standards, but Sara has proven to be worth the investment.”
