Deontay Wilder, the former WBC heavyweight champion, is on the brink of announcing his return to boxing according to Sky Sports.
Wilder, who last fought in June 2024 in a stoppage loss to Zhilei Zhang, is expected to confirm his next fight soon, according to his co-manager Shelly Finkel.
The 39-year-old had hinted at a comeback in November, posting on Instagram that “the best has yet to come,” accompanied by a video montage of calls for his retirement.
A Rollercoaster Career

Nicknamed “The Bronze Bomber,” Wilder had a dominant reign as WBC champion before losing his title to Tyson Fury in a dramatic rematch in 2020.
He went on to lose the trilogy bout to Fury but bounced back with a first-round knockout win over Robert Helenius.
However, subsequent defeats to Joseph Parker in 2023 and Zhang in 2024 fueled speculation about his future.
In a previous report from Sports Buddy, Wilder’s mother, Deborah Wilder, believes it might be the right time for her son to retire and possibly transition into coaching the next generation of boxers.

Wilder’s return would add excitement to a heavyweight division currently ruled by Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the WBC, WBA, and WBO belts.
Usyk recently retained his titles with a rematch win over Tyson Fury and has hinted at a potential move back to cruiserweight.
Meanwhile, Daniel Dubois, the IBF champion, continues to make waves after his knockout victory over Anthony Joshua last year.
