Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin believes Meshack Ubochioma’s loan move to Livingston is a beneficial arrangement for everyone involved.
Frustration at Limited Opportunities
The Nigerian winger, who joined United from Hungarian side Zalaegerszeg last summer, has struggled for consistent minutes this season.
Despite a memorable 99th-minute winner against Hibernian on October 19, Ubochioma has only made three appearances, his last being the Hibs game.

The frustration grew as the Nigerian winger remained an unused substitute during United’s congested schedule of seven games in 20 days.
Livingston manager David Martindale acted swiftly to secure the player on loan, aiming to bolster the club’s Championship promotion ambitions as revealed by The Courier.

A Fresh Start at Livingston

Ubochioma could debut for the Lions in their Scottish Cup clash against Ross County on Saturday, the same venue where he made his United debut in August.
“Meshack is frustrated at his lack of game time,” explained Goodwin. “Because players ahead of him have been doing well, he’s found it difficult to break into the team. He needs to go elsewhere to enjoy his football again.”
The loan move is seen as an opportunity for Ubochioma to rediscover his rhythm and showcase his talent in a new environment.
A Future at Dundee United
While the loan benefits Ubochioma in the short term, Goodwin is clear that the 24-year-old Nigerian remains part of Dundee United’s long-term plans.
The winger is contracted with the Tangerines until 2026, and Goodwin remains confident in his potential.
“Meshack still has another year on his deal and is very much part of our plans,” Goodwin stated. “I think he will do very well at Livingston because he’s too good for that level. He will enjoy playing there.”
