Rangers head coach Philippe Clement has suggested that Super Eagles striker Cyriel Kolawole Dessers could exit the club before the January transfer window closes.
The 30-year-old forward joined Rangers from Cremonese for €5 million in 2023 and was initially a key figure in the squad.
However, recent weeks have seen Dessers relegated to a peripheral role, with Clement favoring Hamza Igamane as the team’s starting striker.
A Hat-Trick Redemption

The Super Eagles man was handed a rare start in Rangers’ emphatic 5-0 Scottish FA Cup victory over Fraserburgh, where he delivered a hat-trick in front of the Ibrox faithful.
The performance served as a reminder of his quality and earned praise from Clement, who acknowledged Dessers’ professionalism and commitment.
“Cyriel is a great character to have in the dressing room and the team,” Clement told the Daily Record.
“He always works hard. Of course, he’s not happy with limited minutes, but that’s football at the highest level. It’s a competition, and he’s kept on fighting.”
Despite his recent success, Dessers’ lack of regular playing time appears to have created tension.
Clement revealed that while the striker has shown a strong desire to contribute, his frustration with the current situation is evident.

Uncertain Future

Clement hinted that Dessers’ future remains uncertain, noting the ongoing discussions about his role at the club.
“We talk all the time. Cyriel shows that he has a desire to do everything for this club. But, of course, he wants to play every game. His situation might not change soon, so we’ll see what happens.”
With the January transfer window nearing its conclusion, Dessers’ situation at Rangers could prompt a move away from the Scottish Premiership giants.
