Ademola Lookman has agreed personal terms to join Inter Milan but his dream move could be blocked by Atalanta’s high price tag.
Inter are eager to bring in the Nigerian forward, especially after his stunning performances in Europe last season.
However, their current offer of €45 million is far below Atalanta’s asking price of €60 million. Talks are ongoing, but unless Inter raise their bid, the deal may fall through.
Reports from Italy suggest that Inter are now trying a different approach. The club is open to including midfielder Kristjan Asllani in a swap deal, along with cash, to reduce the gap and convince Atalanta to sell.
Lookman’s stock has risen sharply since his unforgettable hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen. That performance alone caught the eye of several clubs across Europe.
Atletico Madrid have shown serious interest, with coach Diego Simeone eager to boost his attack ahead of the new season. Arsenal have also been mentioned as a possible destination if the Inter move breaks down.
Atalanta, meanwhile, are facing a summer of big changes. Several key players have already left the club. Top scorer Mateo Retegui has joined Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia, and young full-back Matteo Ruggeri completed a switch to Atletico Madrid. To add to that, longtime manager Gian Piero Gasperini stepped down in June, ending an era in Bergamo.
With Lookman now pushing for the move and Inter willing to negotiate, the next few days will be crucial. But unless Atalanta drop their demands or Inter dig deeper into their pockets, the transfer could collapse.
