Newly promoted Premier League side “Leeds United” have made initial enquiries about Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche, who currently plays for La Liga outfit Getafe, following his breakout 2024/25 season.
The report, originally from The Athletic, indicates that while Leeds have yet to table an official bid, the club has been closely monitoring the 22-year-old Nigerian’s progress, especially after his stellar campaign in Spain.
Breakout Season at Getafe

Uche, who joined Getafe from third-tier Spanish club AD Ceuta just last summer, has rapidly become one of the club’s most valuable assets.

The attacking midfielder played 38 matches, scored 4 goals, and provided 6 assists in the just-concluded season, contributing significantly to Getafe’s mid-table finish.
Contract and Release Clause
Uche is currently under contract at Getafe until 2028, with a €25 million (£21.6m/\$29.1m) release clause set to activate in January 2025.
However, sources say the Spanish club could be open to a €15–20 million transfer fee this summer, considering rising interest and the player’s willingness to explore new challenges.
Leeds United’s Ambitious Project

Leeds, back in the Premier League after a season in the Championship, are looking to reinforce their midfield and attacking options. The Yorkshire club has already secured the signings of Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach, but Uche is reportedly seen as a unique option to inject pace, creativity, and goal contributions into the squad.
With Joe Gelhardt expected to leave this summer, Uche is seen as a potential reinforcement to complement the likes of Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe in attack.
Uche Open to Premier League Move
Insiders close to the player suggest Uche is enthusiastic about a Premier League switch, especially with Leeds presenting a promising project following their top-flight return. While there is also interest from Serie A, Leeds appear to be leading the race for his signature for now.
With the transfer window still open, Nigerian fans will be watching closely to see if this early interest translates into a formal move.
