The Super Falcons of Nigeria delivered a commanding performance today as they dismantled Zambia’s Copper Queens 5–0 in the Quarter final at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The reigning queens of African football showed no mercy, controlling the game from the first whistle to the last and securing a place in the semi-finals.
Goal Fest in Casablanca
The scoring began early, as six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year “Asisat Oshoala” broke the deadlock in the 12th minute with a composed finish that set the tone for Nigeria’s attacking display.
Toni Payne doubled the lead in the 22nd minute, capitalizing on a defensive mix-up before slotting past the Zambian goalkeeper.
Seven minutes later, Uchenna Kanu made it 3–0 with a powerful strike from the edge of the box.
The second half resumed with the same intensity. Rasheedat Ajibade, wearing the captain’s armband, found the back of the net in the 60th minute after a swift team move.
The biggest moment of the match came in the 75th minute when “Ijamulusi” scored her first-ever WAFCON goal, sending Nigerian fans into a frenzy and sealing a comprehensive 5–0 victory.
