Atalanta are preparing for life without Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, who is reportedly on the verge of joining Inter Milan. The Super Eagles star has allegedly agreed to personal terms with the Nerazzurri, prompting the Bergamo-based club to identify a potential successor, Romanian international Dennis Man.
According to “GSP” and “Calciomercato”, Atalanta have initiated contact with Serie B side Parma regarding Man, who has become a transfer target for several Serie A clubs including Lazio, Bologna, and Fiorentina.
The 26-year-old winger is considered a cost-effective option, with his contract at Parma set to expire in 2026.
Man’s stock has risen steadily since his move from FCSB to Parma in 2021, and his style of play aligns well with Atalanta’s high-intensity attacking approach. With Parma already selling fellow Romanian Valentin Mihăilă to a Turkish club, the likelihood of Man departing this summer is high.
Lookman, Atalanta’s second-highest scorer last season, is poised to reunite with former Romanian international and current Inter youth coach Cristi Chivu. Inter have reportedly offered the Nigerian a lucrative €5 million net annual salary. While Lookman is convinced by the project presented to him at San Siro, negotiations between the two clubs continue.
Inter are willing to pay €40 million for the 26-year-old, while Atalanta are holding out for €50 million. Italian media outlets suggest a compromise could be reached at €45 million plus €5 million in performance-related bonuses.
The potential exits of Lookman and Juan Cuadrado, whose contract has expired, leave Atalanta needing reinforcements on the flanks. Man’s versatility and affordability make him an ideal candidate to fill the void, especially if Inter finalize their pursuit of Lookman.
With the transfer window heating up, the next few weeks could see a major reshuffle at Atalanta’s attacking department as they prepare for the 2025/26 season.
