When Tosin Adarabioyo left Fulham last summer, many doubted his decision. He had turned down a big-money contract from his previous club and joined Chelsea on a free move.
But today, those doubts are long gone. The tall centre back quickly became one of Chelsea’s most trusted players in what turned out to be a dream first season.
Chelsea praised Tosin in their season review, calling his debut year a resounding success.
He played in five different competitions and surprised many with five goals, the best scoring season of his career.
Those goals came in key moments too, including matches in the Premier League, UEFA Conference League, Club World Cup, and the FA Cup, where he even grabbed a brace against Morecambe.
Big Plays and Bigger Impact
Tosin’s strength was not just in scoring. He helped the Blues keep five clean sheets in his last six league games and often delivered under pressure.
On the final day of the league season, he was rock solid at the City Ground. Earlier in the campaign, he made a last-minute block at Goodison Park that Chelsea described as as good as a goal.
His influence stretched to Europe as well. Tosin started 12 matches in Chelsea’s successful run in the UEFA Conference League, a tournament they won for the first time.
He also played a key role as the team lifted the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, showing his ability to step up in big moments.
“Tosin’s first season at Stamford Bridge was a resounding success. He appeared in five different competitions, popped up with five goals, and rarely put a foot wrong when called upon by Enzo Maresca,” Chelsea wrote on their official website.
Now, Nigeria is watching. Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle is reportedly tracking Tosin closely, as the national team looks to strengthen its defence.
With his form and fitness at a high level, Tosin may soon earn his first international call-up.
