Liverpool’s attempt to land Alexander Isak has hit a major roadblock, as Newcastle United have turned down their opening offer. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Reds submitted a £120 million bid, including add-ons, but the offer was swiftly rejected by Newcastle.
While many assumed the rejection was due to financial inadequacy, sources reveal that the true reason lies elsewhere. Newcastle are reportedly holding out not just for their £150 million valuation but also for a suitable replacement to be secured before they allow the Swedish forward to leave.
No Replacement, No Deal
Isak is Newcastle’s record signing and a key figure in their attack, having netted over 20 goals in consecutive Premier League seasons. With French striker Hugo Ekitike already moving to Liverpool, the Magpies are now short in attacking options.
They are in talks with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, but discussions remain at an early stage. Until they seal a replacement, Newcastle are unwilling to greenlight Isak’s departure.
Isak Keen on Anfield
Despite the stalled move, Alexander Isak is eager to join Liverpool and has even submitted a transfer request. He is currently training at Real Sociedad’s facilities in Spain and has opted out of Newcastle’s pre-season activities.
While Saudi giants Al Hilal have also shown interest, the Sweden international reportedly prefers a Premier League switch, particularly to Anfield.
