Wilfred Ndidi, the Nigerian midfielder playing for Leicester City, is set for a big move this summer. Leicester have accepted a new offer from Turkish club Beşiktaş for the 27-year-old, raising fresh questions about his future.
Manchester United had shown interest in Ndidi earlier, but Beşiktaş are now ahead in the race after their improved bid was accepted.
Their first offer of €7 million was rejected, but they returned with a better deal, now close to his €9.5 million release clause. That clause became active after Leicester were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Ndidi is eager to leave Championship football behind, and sources close to the player say this move is something he has wanted for months. Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba confirmed the agreement, stating the deal is “100 percent confirmed.”
Ndidi’s Journey: From Genk to Leicester
Ndidi joined Leicester City from Genk in 2017 and quickly became a key figure in midfield. He extended his contract last summer, keeping him at the club until 2027. However, the relegation clause changed everything.
Despite his injury in late 2024, Ndidi returned to full fitness in early 2025. Under new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, he played an important role in the team. But his hunger for top-flight football never faded.
Even with strong interest from Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, and Saudi Arabian clubs, Beşiktaş are the only team so far to meet Leicester’s demands.
As of now, neither Leicester City nor Beşiktaş have made an official announcement. But everything points to the move going through soon.
If it happens, Ndidi will join a growing group of Nigerian stars in Turkey. Victor Osimhen recently made a high-profile switch to Galatasaray, and Ndidi could follow with a fresh start in Istanbul.
