Bayern Munich have announced that Wisdom Mike, a German youth international with Nigerian roots, has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 16-year-old forward, already considered one of the brightest young talents in Germany, joins the senior squad with high expectations.

Mike was included in a Bayern first team matchday squad last season but did not play in the 3-0 win over Werder Bremen.

This summer, he missed the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States because of school duties.

However, he made his official debut on August 7 in a friendly against Tottenham Hotspur, replacing Luis Díaz in the last 14 minutes of a 4-0 win.

Mike began his football journey at MSV Duisburg before moving to Borussia Mönchengladbach’s academy.

In 2022, at the age of 13, he joined Bayern Munich’s youth setup. Since then, he has played for the U19 side in the Bundesliga youth league and the UEFA Youth League.

The teenager was also part of Germany’s squad for the 2025 European Under-17 Championship, scoring in a group match against Albania.

His ability to play with both feet, combined with his pace and close control, has led to comparisons with Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé.

Bayern’s Long-Term Plan

Club officials see Mike as a long-term investment. While he is unlikely to be a regular starter immediately, his inclusion in first team training and matchday squads suggests that Bayern plan to integrate him steadily.

His technical skills and composure at such a young age have impressed coaches and scouts.

For now, Mike’s focus will be on gaining more minutes in friendly matches and selected Bundesliga games while continuing his development in youth competitions.
