Hull City have announced the arrival of Nigerian winger David Akintola on a two year deal.

The 29 year old joins his national teammate Semi Ajayi, who recently signed for the Championship side.

The move is seen as a major boost for the Tigers as they strengthen their squad for the new season.

Akintola arrives with a rich football journey across Europe. He has played more than 270 senior matches, including 147 appearances in the Turkish top league.

Most recently, he featured for Çaykur Rizespor in Turkey, where he scored four goals and created nine assists in 49 games.

Last season alone he played 36 times, showing consistency and durability.

The winger began his professional career in Denmark with Midtjylland. From there, he went on several loan spells in different countries.

His first notable success came with Thisted in Denmark, before moving to Norway where he impressed at Jerv and Haugesund.

At Haugesund, he finished as top scorer, while at Rosenborg he played eight Champions League qualifying matches and scored important goals.

Akintola later moved to Cyprus with Omonia Nicosia for a short stay before establishing himself in Turkey.

At Hatayspor during the 2020 21 season, he scored seven goals and made seven assists in 37 games.

His performances earned him a move to Adana Demirspor, where he became a key player. In three seasons there, he scored 13 goals in 77 matches and helped the club qualify for European competition in 2023.

Excitement Over New Challenge

Speaking after his move to Hull City, Akintola expressed joy and pride. He said he had followed the club for years and knew about their history in the Premier League.

He described playing for the Tigers as a big chance and promised to give his best.

He said: “I’m very happy to be here – I cannot describe the feeling. A couple of weeks ago, the club showed interest. It was a very easy decision.

“Because I was in Nigeria, I needed a visa to come, so that’s why it took a little while, but I’m very happy to finally be here.

“Growing up in Nigeria, everybody watches the Premier League. Hull have played in the Premier League before, so it’s a team I’ve known about for a very long time.

“Having the opportunity to play here now is a big privilege and I’m grateful.

“The people here are amazing – everybody has welcomed me very well. I’m looking forward to working with the head coach and bringing a good story to this great team.

“It’s a dream come true. Everybody in Nigeria wants to play in England. It’s what we watch growing up.

“I’m ready to give everything and help the team to achieve big things.”

The arrival of Akintola gives Hull more attacking options and valuable international experience.

Supporters are excited about the chance to see him link up with Semi Ajayi, another Nigerian international in the squad.

Together, they bring energy and quality that could help the Tigers push for a strong campaign in the Championship.
