Nigerian star Wilfred Ndidi is ready to begin a new journey in Turkey after ending his long stay at Leicester City.

The midfielder has signed for Besiktas and is set to play in their first league game of the season against Eyupspor. This marks the first time in eight years that Ndidi will wear the shirt of a club other than Leicester.

Ndidi joined Leicester from Belgian side Gent in 2017. At that time, the English club was struggling to replace N’Golo Kante who had left for Chelsea.

Ndidi quickly stepped into the role and became one of Leicester’s most reliable players.

He gained respect for his strong tackles and his ability to protect the defense even when injuries slowed him down.

Leicester’s fortunes have dropped in recent years. They slipped between the Premier League and the Championship, creating an unstable environment for players.

Last season’s relegation opened the door for Ndidi to leave the club. He attracted interest from several English and European teams, but finally agreed to join Turkish giants Besiktas.

The deal was completed last week. Ndidi missed the chance to play in Besiktas’ UEFA Conference League qualifiers but is now ready for the Super Lig opener.

Reports in Turkey suggest he could even start the match against Eyupspor.

A Boost for Besiktas Defense

Besiktas have often struggled defensively under coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The team has been guilty of giving away easy goals.

Ndidi’s arrival may be the answer. His strong presence in midfield, his ball winning skills, and his ability to keep discipline on the pitch make him a valuable addition.

Fans also know that the Nigerian is capable of scoring important goals.

His experience in English football and his years with the Super Eagles will bring confidence and stability to the Turkish club.

Ndidi had a full pre season with Leicester before his move, so he is fit and sharp. The midfielder is eager to make his mark in Turkey and show that he still has the strength to dominate in midfield.
