Leicester City defender Caleb Okoli has been named in the Championship Team of the Week after a brilliant display in his side’s narrow 1–0 win over Charlton Athletic.
The 24-year-old was solid in defence and helped the Foxes secure a vital clean sheet away from home.
Okoli joined Leicester in July 2024 and has quickly established himself as a key player.
His performance against Charlton earned praise from analysts, with WhoScored ranking him among the best players in England’s second tier this week.
Goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk also made the list for his role in keeping Charlton at bay, while Hamza Choudhury joined Okoli in the back line alongside Blackburn’s Dominic Hyam and Birmingham City’s Ethan Laird.
Midfield and Attack Dominated by Coventry Stars
Coventry City had a strong presence in the team with Brandon Thomas-Asante, Victor Torp and Jack Rudoni all selected for their commanding display in midfield.
They were joined by Blackburn winger Ryan Hedges who added flair to the middle of the park.
Up front, Wrexham forward Kieffer Moore and Coventry striker Haji Wright were named after providing attacking threats in their respective games.

Nigerian Interest in Okoli Grows
Born in Italy to Nigerian parents, Okoli has represented Italy at youth levels but remains eligible to play for the Super Eagles as he has not yet featured for the senior national team.
Nigeria coach Eric Chelle is keeping close tabs on him ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The defender was previously linked with a move away from Leicester following their relegation but has since become an important figure in their push for promotion. His form could also open the door for an international call-up with Nigeria.
With performances like this, Okoli is proving he can be one of the best defenders in the Championship.
Leicester fans will hope his form continues as the club fights to return to the Premier League.
