Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira has issued a strong warning about his team’s shortage of attacking options as the transfer deadline approaches.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match against Everton at Molineux, Pereira admitted the club is actively looking for a new striker to bolster their squad.
The coach stressed that the search for reinforcements is driven by fears of losing key players during the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament, which runs from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026, will see several first-team stars called up for international duty.
Key Players Could Miss Crucial Fixtures

Zimbabwe internationals Marshall Munetsi and Tawanda Chirewa, Ivory Coast’s Emmanuel Agbadou and Cameroon’s Jackson Tchatchoua are all likely to represent their countries.
Pereira noted that these absences could leave his side vulnerable during a busy period of the season.
“Since the beginning, the club has known very well what we need to balance the squad, to anticipate the time of the Afcon, because in the Afcon we lose players,” Vitor Pereira told reporters.
“This is the moment we need to prepare for, to anticipate the scenario, a moment to think about everything, and the club is trying.
“I believe that we can do it until the last minute. From my experience in football, I’ve had some funny stories where we lost the best player in the last minute, and in the last minute we kept the best player.
“I’m not thinking only about myself but about all the managers. I hope that when the window closes, we’re okay – this is my squad, this is my team. We are here to be focused.”
Arokodare Transfer Rumours Heat Up
One name strongly linked with a move to Molineux is Racing Genk striker Tolu Arokodare. The Nigerian forward scored 21 goals in 40 games last season, making him one of the most sought-after attackers in Belgium.
Reports suggest he was left out of Genk’s squad for their Europa League clash against Lech Poznań, sparking speculation that a transfer could be close.
However, even if Arokodare joins Wolves, there remains a risk that he too could be away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria. This adds another layer of uncertainty to the club’s transfer strategy.
Despite the challenges, Pereira remains optimistic that the club can secure the right signing before the window closes.
