Manchester United legend Gary Neville has made a surprising choice in naming who he thinks deserves the Premier League Player of the Season award.
Phil Foden’s impressive season
Phil Foden has captured the attention of many, emerging as a pivotal figure for Manchester City in their pursuit of a fourth consecutive title. His impressive tally of 17 goals and 9 assists in the league this season positions him as the leading contender for this award.
Following his recent accolade as the 2024 Football Writers’ Association Men’s Footballer of the Year, the 23-year-old sensation is now strongly favored by numerous pundits to clinch the prestigious Premier League Player of the Season award as well.

Gary Neville picks Odegaard for Player of the Season award
Gary Neville however has a contrary opinion to this consensus. The Manchester United legend has picked Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard as his choice for the award.

”Ødegaard is the best player in the league I’ve seen this season on a regular basis. He takes the balls on the half-turn, tries to play them through – the right type of passes.
“If he had, for instance, a striker who made those little darting runs like an Aguero, the amount of chances he creates is unbelievable. I think that’s his peak this season,” Neville said, according to Arsenal Channel News on X.
