Nigerian sensation George Ilenikhena has made the headlines following his impressive display against Barcelona on Thursday night.
Ilenikhena scored a 71st-minute winner to secure victory for Monaco, as the French side secured a 2-1 victory against Hansi Flick’s side in their Champions League opener.
Monaco struck first with Akliouche’s opener, but Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal leveled the score just before halftime. In the end, Ilenikhena’s decisive goal secured a crucial win for Monaco in the competition.

Following the goal, the Nigerian sensation became the youngest player to score for Monaco in the UCL, surpassing Kylian Mbappe’s record, according to Football Tweet on X.

The 18-year-old attacker scored his first goal for the club following his move club. However, this isn’t his first goal against the Spanish giants, having scored a late winner against them during his first UEFA Champions League season with Royal Antwerp.
Ilenikhena, who joined Monaco this summer from Royal Antwerp for €18.75 million, has made five appearances for the Ligue 1 club.
