It was a frustrating weekend for Udinese fans, and even more so for Maduka Okoye, who had a tough time between the posts. The Nigerian international faced a barrage of attacks as his side fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat in their latest Serie A outing.
Fans might still be digesting the shock of such a loss, especially since it marked the first time the Zebras tasted defeat in the league this season.
For Maduka Okoye, though, it wasn’t just about the team’s collective setback; this was also the first time he had to pick the ball out of the net three times in a single match since joining the Italian top-flight.
The goalkeeper, who has shown impressive form in previous games, in a bid to challenge Nwabali in the Super Eagles would have hoped for a better outcome.
Maduka Okoye’s Message
However, speaking after the game, Okoye shared a message that all teams must remember after tough losses. He acknowledged the disappointment but stressed that Udinese must not dwell too long on this result.
“We started the season well, but today was a difficult match. We played against a great team,” he told the club’s official website.
“Today we lacked a bit of movement and communication, but now we immediately focus on the Coppa Italia and Inter on Saturday.
“We are disappointed but we must immediately look forward, Salernitana and Inter are two great opportunities, we must stay focused”.
