James Ward-Prowse saved himself from an embarrassing moment at the expense of a sending off after his slip nearly send Nicolas Jackson on his way to a one-on-one with the goalkeeper in Nottingham Forest‘s one all draw at Chelsea.
The English midfielder, already booked in the first-half for a foul on Cole Palmer was given his marching orders 12 minutes from time, leaving the visitors hanging on for the remainder of the game.

The former Southampton midfielder was not having the best of games in the Stamford Bridge but and was nearly responsible for an error which might have won the game for Chelsea.
The incident occurred in the 78th-minute as Forest pushed forward to retake the lead in the final quarter of the game. With bodies committed forward and Chelsea pinned in their own half, Ward-Prowse failed to control a simple backpass and Nicolas Jackson was immediately on to it.
It was just like a repetition of the Steven Gerrard slip that allowed Demba Ba score for Chelsea against Liverpool more than ten years ago in 2014. Luckily for Forest, Ward-Prowse sacrificed himself by handling the ball, before Jackson could get into possession of it.
He left referee Chris Kavanagh with no choice but to show him a second yellow and to an early bath with a subsequent red card. Forest however, won’t mind as they were able to hold on for a point.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side dropped a place to tenth but a point at Stamford Bridge is worth much, and at the same they kept their unbeaten record away at Chelsea since return to the top-flight alive.
