In a shocking and tragic event, a SuperSport TV crew was ambushed while travelling to cover the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya’s Mediterranean Knights.

 

The seven-person crew was travelling from Lagos to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, when the incident occurred on Wednesday.

He revealed that one of the crew members was tragically killed during the attack. While six members were reportedly rescued, the horrifying event has shaken the sporting community.

South African anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee also reported the incident, sharing details on X: “A SuperSport TV crew of seven were attacked and kidnapped in Anambra, Nigeria.

 

Six were rescued, but one member of the technical crew was shot and killed.”

 

The attack has raised concerns about the safety of media professionals in Nigeria as they work to cover high-profile sporting events.
