Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has addressed reports suggesting he wants a reunion with former player Cristiano Ronaldo at his current club.

The two Portuguese worked together at Spanish side Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013. Ronaldo was Mourinho’s prolific weapon in attack, scoring 168 goals in 164 games during this period. They won one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey trophy, and one Supercopa de España together before the 61-year-old manager left for Chelsea in the summer of 2013.

Mourinho had previously dismissed rumours that he wanted to bring Ronaldo to Fenerbahce to strengthen his attack, stating that, although they share a cordial relationship, the legendary Portuguese attacker would not come to Turkey.

However, his comments did little to quench the speculation, prompting him to address the rumours again. Speaking ahead of Fenerbahce’s Super Lig encounter with Besiktas on Friday, the former Chelsea manager stated,

“Cristiano Ronaldo will not come to Fenerbahce. I’ve three good strikers and I don’t need another one.

“Cristiano will always be Cristiano, but I don’t want him because I’m satisfied with my strikers,” as quoted by Fabrizio Romano on X.

Indeed, the Yellow-Navy Blues boast three high-profile strikers in Youssef En-Nesyri, Cenk Tosun, and the veteran Edin Dzeko. They currently sit second on the Super Lig. table, three points behind Galatasaray at the summit.
