Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that his squad is struggling with anxiety and fear ahead of their daunting clash with league leaders Liverpool.

The game comes during a turbulent period for United, with five defeats in their last six matches plunging them into the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Ruben Amorim has worked to rebuild morale at Old Trafford, but the upcoming match at Anfield represents a significant challenge.

United fans are haunted by memories of a humiliating 7-0 loss at the same venue two seasons ago.

Reflecting on his team’s mental state, Amorim remarked:

“They are anxious and sometimes afraid on the pitch. We need leaders to step up and help others, but I am the most responsible person here to improve performances.”

According to Mail Sport, the Portuguese coach highlighted the players’ efforts but acknowledged their struggle to overcome the pressure:

“You can see the players are trying. Sometimes they are too anxious and too afraid to play football because this is a difficult moment. The supporters are tired of this moment, so it’s strange to hear them chanting my name.”

Adding to United’s woes, Liverpool is in unstoppable form at the top of the Premier League.

For Amorim, the task at hand goes beyond tactics—it’s about restoring belief in a squad weighed down by recent setbacks.

“I’m giving everything to help the club. I know it’s hard to understand right now, but we are going to succeed,” Amorim assured.

United’s trip to Anfield could serve as a turning point—or further deepen the crisis.
