Nigerian publication BusinessDay reports that Victor Osimhen, who is now excelling on loan at Galatasaray, is keen to join Manchester United.

A failed summer transfer to Chelsea and the Saudi Pro League have seen the Napoli striker linked with a move away from the Italian club.

But the 26-year-old has certainly thrived in Turkey after arriving at Okan Buruk’s side, who top the Turkish Super Lig, and netted 13 goals in 16 games.

But if United step up their interest in attacking problems, Galatasaray could lose their star loanee.

Manchester United desperately needs attacking reinforcements, and Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee have failed to score in a reliable manner.

Ruben Amorim is expected to spend in the January window to bring in a proven forward to bolster firepower, with just five Premier League goals to their name between them.

Osimhen has a superb record and he wants to play at Old Trafford so he’s a prime target.

Despite already extending his contract late in 2023, reportedly with a €90 million (£74.8 million) release clause, his relationship with Napoli has deteriorated.

A Deal on the Horizon?

It is suggested that the release clause would be reduced to €75 million (£62.3 million) to allow a transfer.

The Turkish side, Galatasaray, could be £8.3 million richer if Osimhen’s loan ends early, as the deal includes a clause which could pay them €10 million (£8.3 million).

Manchester United, however, have a £93.8 million net spend this season to balance with Premier League Profit and Sustainability rules in mind, and will do well to avoid any overspend.
