Jose Mourinho has once again taken aim at referees in Turkey, following a horror tackle that went unnoticed by officials during a recent Turkish Cup clash.

The incident, which involved Abdulkerim Bardakcı‘s challenge on Miguel Crespo, was described by Mourinho as a reason for players to have “shin pads made of carbon” to avoid injury.

This is not the first time the outspoken Fenerbahce manager has been vocal about refereeing standards in the Super Lig, having previously called the Turkish league “toxic” and criticized its “strange” occurrences.

Mourinho’s latest grievance, however, did not stem from a game involving his own team but from a match between Istanbul Basaksehir and Galatasaray.

The tackle, which was not punished by the officials, caught Crespo, now playing for Basaksehir, and raised concerns over the severity of challenges going unchecked in the league.

Mourinho shared a video of the tackle on his Instagram with a message directed to Crespo, jokingly suggesting that the player’s shin pads should be made of a tougher material to avoid injury.

Speculation Over Mourinho’s Future

While Mourinho’s outbursts continue to draw attention, there is ongoing speculation about his future in Turkey.

Although his contract with Fenerbahce runs until 2026, rumors have suggested a potential return to the Premier League, sparking talk that his stint in Turkey might be cut short.

His tenure at Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur has led to frequent speculation about a return to English football, further fueling discussions around his next career move.
