Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly tabled a firm take-it-or-leave-it offer to sign Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté this summer, as they look to bolster their defensive line ahead of the 2025/26 season.

With the French international entering the final year of his contract at Anfield, Los Blancos are confident they can land their target for significantly less than Liverpool’s valuation.

According to reports emerging from Spain, particularly from AS, Real Madrid are seeking to exploit Konaté’s contract situation, with Liverpool so far unsuccessful in securing the 25-year-old on a new deal.

The player’s current contract is due to expire in June 2026, but negotiations have reportedly stalled, opening the door for an exit.

Liverpool, aware of the looming risk of losing Konaté on a free transfer next summer, are said to be open to offers. However, the Premier League side have slapped a €50 million price tag on the centre-back, who joined them from RB Leipzig in 2021.

Despite his consistent performances and experience at the highest level—including a UEFA Champions League final appearance and a Premier League title win—Real Madrid are not prepared to meet that asking price.

Instead, the Spanish club is preparing an offer in the region of €20-25 million. Sources close to the deal suggest Madrid are hoping the threat of waiting until next summer—when they could potentially sign Konaté for free—will force Liverpool’s hand.

Club officials at the Santiago Bernabéu believe Konaté is keen on the move and view his physical presence, speed, and aerial ability as ideal complements to their evolving backline.

With Antonio Rüdiger aging and Éder Militão still working his way back to full fitness, Carlo Ancelotti’s side see the Frenchman as a long-term defensive investment.

Reports earlier this month also claimed Liverpool considered using Konaté in a player-plus-cash deal for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.

The Reds were reportedly willing to offer €35 million in addition to the defender, viewing the Brazilian forward as a top-tier addition to their attack.

However, Madrid rejected the proposal outright, with no interest in letting go of Rodrygo, who remains an important part of their future plans.
