Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo is currently at the center of a growing debate over which national team he will represent between Nigeria and England.
Adarabioyo has impressed many since moving to Chelsea on a free transfer from Fulham. He has already helped the Blues win the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. With over 40 appearances and some important goals to his name, the 27-year-old is now seen as a key figure in Chelsea’s defense.
But while things are clear at club level, Adarabioyo is still weighing his options when it comes to international football. Born in London to Nigerian parents, he has played for England at youth level but is still eligible to play for the Super Eagles since he has never featured for the senior England team.
His journey to this point was not easy. Before Chelsea, Adarabioyo had spells with Manchester City’s youth team, a loan to Blackburn, and then a move to Fulham. During those years, a call-up to England’s senior squad seemed far away. But his recent form at Chelsea could change that.
Currently, he is enjoying time in Nigeria and was recently spotted with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Speaking on Arise TV, he admitted that the decision about his international future is still open.
“This is something I think about seriously,” he said. “It has been a topic for many years. Hopefully, I will make a choice soon. Everything is being considered.”
