The Super Falcons of Nigeria claimed their tenth African title after a stunning 3-2 win over Morocco in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final.
The match, which took place at the Stade Olympique in Rabat, saw Justin Madugu’s team produced a brilliant second-half comeback to silence the home crowd.
Before the final, Nigeria had already shown strong form with wins over Tunisia, Botswana, Zambia and South Africa. Their determination and teamwork helped them reach the top once again.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu praised the team on social media after the match. He called their effort “Mission X” and applauded their fighting spirit.
CAF’s Cash Reward: What the Falcons Will Pocket
Days before the tournament began, CAF President Patrice Motsepe revealed that the winning team would receive a cash prize of $1 million. The runners-up, Morocco, will get $500,000.
With Nigeria lifting the trophy, the Super Falcons are entitled to around ₦1.5 billion. However, this entire amount will not go directly to the players.
According to multiple reports, the Nigerian Football Federation is expected to take about 67 percent of the total prize. This means only $330,000 will be left for both players and coaching staff to share.
The exact breakdown of who gets what among the team members has not been made public. The final sharing formula will be decided by the NFF.
