Galatasaray have started the new Turkish league season with confidence, but one player insists their success is not built on only two famous names.
Defender Davinson Sanchez, who previously played for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, says the Lions are more than a duo of Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen.
Speaking after the 3-0 victory over Fatih Karagümrük, Sanchez made it clear that the whole squad deserves credit.
“We are happy to see Icardi back and Osimhen ready again,” he said. “But this team is not about only them. Leroy Sané is here, others are working hard, and everyone is pushing for Galatasaray’s goals.”

Big Names Join the Lions

Galatasaray shocked Europe earlier this summer by making a record signing.
They paid €75 million to secure Nigerian forward Osimhen on a permanent deal from Napoli after a successful loan. The move showed the club’s ambition not only in Turkey but also in Europe.
Alongside him, Icardi remains a fan favorite. Sané’s arrival has also brought excitement as the German winger adds speed and flair to the attack.
With so many attacking options, coach Okan Buruk has options that most rivals can only dream of.
Against Karagümrük, Osimhen and Icardi both came from the bench as Buruk manages their fitness carefully. Goals still came from others teammates, underlining Sanchez’s point that Galatasaray have strength across the pitch.
Early Warning to Rivals
The win leaves Galatasaray with two victories from two matches. Their attacking display was powerful, but it was the team spirit that stood out.
Fans at Rams Park witnessed a side that can score from many areas, not only through the stars up front.
Last season, Osimhen played a vital role in helping Galatasaray win both the league and the cup.
Supporters expect him to return soon as a regular starter, but with the squad looking sharper than ever, the Lions do not need to depend on one man.
With Champions League football ahead, Sanchez’s words carry weight. He wants the world to see Galatasaray not as a two-man show but as a team ready to fight together.
