Davido’s Musical Journey: From Hidden Studio to Afrobeats Stardom
Davido’s rise to Afrobeats stardom wasn’t always smooth sailing. In a recent podcast with Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni, Davido revealed the initial lack of support he received from his father regarding his musical aspirations.

Overcoming Paternal Disapproval
Despite having a mansion with over 20 rooms, The Afrobeats superstar managed to set up a secret studio without his father’s knowledge. Since his father used the elevator to access his room, he remained blissfully unaware of the musical haven hidden within the house.

However, after finishing high school, Davido’s path took him to the United States for college. Unfortunately, for the young artist, the chosen institution in Tennessee turned out to be a strict Christian university. Feeling out of place as potentially the only African student, Davido’s discomfort prompted his father to relocate him to Alabama, two hours away.

Atlanta’s Allure and a Change of Plans
While his father’s intention behind the move to Alabama was to keep him away from the distractions of Atlanta’s club scene, fate had something else in store. Unbeknownst to his father, Alabama became the unexpected springboard for Davido’s musical career.

Breakthrough in Bama: From Dorm Room to Afrobeats Icon
There, DamiDuro crooner met a fellow student with a recording studio. Recognizing an opportunity, He purchased the studio equipment and embarked on a self-directed learning journey. YouTube videos became his guide as he mastered the art of music recording. This pivotal step marked the beginning of a meteoric rise for the Afrobeats star.
Davido’s dedication and passion for music, coupled with a bit of strategic maneuvering, propelled him from a hidden studio in his father’s mansion to becoming a globally recognized Afrobeats icon.
