Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi was mocked by Liverpool fans after his team lost the Carabao Cup final.
Obi was present as Liverpool defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the 2024 League Cup final played at Wembley, on Sunday, February 25, 2024.
The Super Eagles legend was in attendance with former teammate Joe Cole as they were to cover the Matchday live for Chelsea TV, which they watched their team lose via an extra-time goal from Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk.

Speaking on Matchday He said, “The fans 𝘢𝘳𝘦 the football club. Without them, we are nothing, the club is nothing. It’s nice to see our fans back where we belong, this is where we belong. Our fans used to be here every year, it’s nice to see them back.”, as reported by Pulse Sports
Before the final, he had high hopes for Chelsea, but they ultimately fell short.
Following the defeat, Liverpool supporters mocked the former Super Eagles midfielder, asking him how he was coping with the Carabao Cup final defeat and his country’s recent African Cup of Nations final loss to Ivory Coast.
Mikel played for Chelsea under different managers, winning one Champions League, two English Premier League titles, four FA Cup trophies, one Community Shield, and one Europa League title.
