Nigerian defender Williams Troost Ekong, who won the Most Valuable Player award at the just concluded AFCON tournament, has opened up about a possible move to the Saudi Pro League.
Ekong, who captained the Nigeria national team in the AFCON, leading them to the finals, caught the attention of clubs in Saudi Arabia, according to reports.
The 30-year-old center defender is presently contracted with PAOK in Greece, and has acknowledged that he would give moving to the Middle East serious thought.

“I can’t tell you that now because it’s not right in front of me,” Troost-Ekong said in an interview with CNN World Sports.
“The Saudi League is something which is exciting, you saw quite a lot of the best players who were part of the AFCON have headed in that direction and are playing there”, said the Paok defender.
When asked if he would love to play with Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo’, he said; “Who wouldn’t? One of the best players in the world. We’ll have to see what happens but I’m happy at PAOK.”, as per Daily Post
Ekong was impressive in the AFCON tournament, scoring three goals, including one in the final against Ivory Coast. He, along with the rest of the team, was given a heroic welcome upon arriving in Nigeria, having been conferred the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) award.
